Many years ago there lived an honest farmer in Lech on Tannberg. One day a little boy
was born to his wife. The child was dead at birth and could thus not be baptised.
The farmer sent his farm-hand to Schruns with the dead baby. He should lay it on the
altar of St. Jodok there and have it baptised by the parish priest when life again filled
the spiritless form for a short time after devout prayer.
The farm-hand grew weary along the way. Perhaps he viewed the whole thing as
superstition. Anyway, he buried the child in the Dalaas woods near the Kristberg saddle.
After this, he returned to Lech and told his master that the child had been baptised and
buried in Schruns.
After a few years the farmer's wife gave birth to yet another dead boy. This time the
farmer made his way to Schruns with the child himself.
Somewhere around the Kristberg saddle he rested and "marendete" there a bit.
When he was about to continue on, he heard a pitiful voice calling:
"Ätti, nümm mi o mit!" (Father, take me with
you, too!)
The voice seemed to come from out of the ground. The farmer dug and found to his horror
the undamaged body of a child. He recognized it as his own because of a
birth-mark.
He thus continued on to Schruns with both of the bodies. There he was able to fulfill
his heart's desire and have both his children baptised and buried in consecrated
land.
In grateful memory of this event, the man from Tannberg had a chapel built at the very
site where he found and dug out the body of his child. Until this day, the chapel is
called the "Bruderhüsli" ("brother's little house").
